I contributed a piece on trauma-informed design research to the Design Justice Network Principles at Work working group zine published in the summer of 2022.
Changemaker Health Article Series
While at Ashoka in 2017, I was lead author of an article series published on Medium that explored social entrepreneurs’ innovative approaches to patient-centered healthcare, which Ashoka called “Changemaker Health.” The series was part of a partnership with the German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim.
For the series, I had the privilege of interviewing global innovators in the healthcare sector and synthesizing their insights into replicable trends.
Guide to Preparing for Surgery
Our founder chose to share this personal piece of writing because our team believes in the power of lived experience as expertise. In the future, we hope to create other kinds of resources informed by the lived experience of our design practice, such as a guide to applying for a legal name change in DC for trans folks, as well as a guide for employers who wish to create a radically accessible and inclusive workplace.
I created this guide to preparing for surgery while recovering from my own major surgery in 2016. The document is stored on Google Drive at bit.ly/surgery_prep_guide so it be easily shared.
